Poverty and food waste are two intrinsically problems which have been tearing our planet since eons of years. According to UN, yearly 1.3 billion tons of food get lost or wasted. Obviously, that amount of food would be enough to solve critical starvation problems in several places in world, especially in African continent, which, beyond poverty and starvation, deals with lack of basic sanitation , investments in energy resources and intern conflicts.
But now, despite all these problems, African continent can be regarded as the pioneer of food conservatory machine due to an invention made by a Ugandan inventor called Lawrence Oketayott.

Mr Oketayott is a 23 years old engineering graduate and a hopeful man with a great desire to help those who suffer from starvation and food waste. His invention is called Spark Dryer, it dehydrates fruit and vegetables, extending their shelf life from 2 days to two years. The most incredible part of this is, the machine is powered only by garden waste.
Now, he has been traveling within Uganda to show case his invention to his people.
```and, perhaps, has in his hands a potential solution for food crisis.```
The invention concept arouse after a talk between Oketayott and his farmer uncle, Joe, about infrastructure problems caused in agriculture due to war in the country.
"What is really the problem with agriculture?" - He asked Uncle Joe.
"The main problem is, "when we harvest our products there aren't any other means to store and preserve them" - Said Uncle Joe.
Then, through Mr Oketayott's best efforts, Spark Dryer has been improved and been sold in Uganda. It's been aiding farmers and families to rebuild their lives. Now, uncle Joe, for example, has preserved almost all his products which has doubled his production. Thanks to Spark Dryer which is increasing his income in 400%.
Mr Oketayott's dream has a long way to achieve his final objective, but the possibility of the first step, has shown the world what dream and work can do together.
After a long time under war menace, destruction, and starvation, Ugandan people have a good opportunity to show the world their creativity, resistance, pioneer spirit and credibility. It will be a golden lesson for those who don't believe in dreams anymore, there are still good people doing good things, we just need to know and spread it.
We really hope to see Spark Dryer working everywhere.
